About the speaker:
Rita is a current student of the Master’s in Education (Ed.M.) at Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), and she belongs to the cohort of the Mind, Brain, and Education program which is an interdisciplinary program bridging cognitive neuroscience and education. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics in China, and a Master of Business Administration from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

Before pursuing her Ed.M. at HGSE, she served in the corporate world for nearly ten years from 2007 to 2018 in Beijing, Shanghai and Singapore in several Fortune Global 500 companies such as P&G and Mondelēz. From her roles as financial analyst and project manager in different industries, she has gained rich experience working as a leader and a team player to reach business targets in multinational companies. She enjoys collaborating with people from various backgrounds and growing with each other.

Rita also enjoys challenging herself and creating possibilities in her life. With the mission to make more positive impact on the society, from 2018 to 2019, Rita served as a volunteer educator in Chile, supporting children from economically disadvantaged areas. Her volunteer experience of working with more than 300 Latino students inspired her to learn more about human development and learning science. Therefore, in Jun 2020, she began her study at HGSE as a student of the master’s program, and joined the Fung Scholar community. She is working as a Research Assistant at the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning at Beijing Normal University. Her research focuses on developmental language disorder in young children.

Rita enjoys reading and travelling. For her, traveling is the best way to know the world and to learn about different cultures. Thus far, she has lived in three countries: China, Singapore, and Chile. She wishes to keep her exploration and bring more meaningful impact to this world that she loves.
