Details:
We are taught planting trees is good for the climate and environment, so cutting trees is bad, right? In this sharing session, Marcus will address this question through introducing his research works in Sweden, a leading country in combating climate change but simultaneously one of the world’s largest exporters of timbers from forest cutting. Swedish forestry has long led the way in terms of economic, biological and social sustainability, but its fame has been recently challenged during the forest debates within the country. Some scholars even suggest cutting down the forests for the climate. What are their reasons behind?
Finally, Marcus will share its inspirations for Hong Kong and other parts of world in terms of forest sustainability.
